Southwest Ambulance and Rural/Metro boast one of the largest and most impressive training departments in the country. Whereas most ambulance companies require employees to go to third-party training programs, we offer many refresher and training courses in-house at no cost to employees. This includes refresher courses for EMT, Medic, ACLS, CPR, and PALS as well as additional CE courses.
Southwest Ambulance is also one of the few private providers to offer fully accredited EMT-B and paramedic training programs. To date, we have successfully graduated more than 113 paramedic students through our program. More than 91% of our students pass their National Registry examination on their first attempt compared to 63% nationwide.

The department utilizes experienced staff and instructors, numerous resources from media and web-based programs, subject-matter experts in pediatric and trauma facilities, and guidance from our administrative medical director to provide each employee an opportunity to progress and succeed in paramedicine.
Our department also provides community education in CPR, First Aid, and AED use. We provide instruction in CPR for Professionals for other health facilities upon request.
